포르쉐, 벤틀리 등 고급차를 가득 실은 화물선에서 불이 났다. 18일(현지시각) 로이터통신, 뉴욕타임스 등 언론이 대서양에서 표류 중이라고 전했다.
길이 약 200ｍ, 6만톤급의 펠리시티 에이스호에는 포르쉐, 벤틀리, 폭스바겐, 아우디 등 차량 4000여 대가 실려 있었다. 포르쉐는 1100여대, 벤틀리 189대다. 이 배는 독일 엠덴을 출발해 미국 로드아일랜드 데이비스빌로 향하는 중이었다.
매체에 따르면 지난 16일 포르투갈령 아조레스제도를 지나던 파나마 선적 펠리시티 에이스호의 화물칸에서 화재가 발생했다. 불은 삽시간에 배 전체로 번졌다. 선원 22명 전원은 포르투갈 해군의 도움을 받아 탈출했다. 부상자는 없었다.

뉴욕타임스는 “반도체 수급난 등 글로벌 공급망 대란으로 신차 생산에 차질을 빚고 출고가 지연되는 상황에서 이번 화재가 발생했다”라고 보도했다. 자동차 리뷰 유튜버 매트 페라는 트위터에 “주문한 포르쉐가 이 배에 실려 있다는 연락을 딜러에게서 받았다”면서 “내 차가 바다 한가운데에서 불타고 있다”라고 밝혔다.
호르타스 항구 책임자 조아오 멘드스 카베사스는 로이터 통신에 “전기차에 장착한 리튬이온 배터리도 불에 타고 있어 화재를 진압하려면 특수 장비가 필요해 보인다.”라고 했다. 그는 “해당 선박이 너무 커서 다른 배들의 항해를 방해할 수 있기 때문에 아조레스제도가 아닌 다른 유럽 국가나 바하마로 옮겨질 것”이라고 했다.
포르투갈 해군은 배 주위에 머물면서 화재 진행 상황을 지켜보고 있다. 정확한 화재 원인 및 해양 오염 등은 아직 보고되지 않았다.
펠리시티 에이스호는 일본 선사인 미쓰이 O.S.K 라인(MOL)이 운용하고 있다. MOL 측은 입장을 내놓지 않았다.

A cargo ship full of luxury cars such as Porsche and Bentley caught fire. Media such as Reuters and the New York Times reported on the 18th (local time) that it is drifting in the Atlantic Ocean.
The Felicity Ace, a 200-meter-long and 60,000-ton ship, contained more than 4,000 vehicles, including Porsche, Bentley, Volkswagen and Audi. There are 1,100 Porsches and 189 Bentley. The ship was leaving Mden, Germany, for Davisville, Rhode Island, the United States.
According to the media, a fire broke out in the cargo compartment of the Panama Shipping Felicity Ace, which was passing through the Portuguese Azores Islands on the 16th. The fire quickly spread throughout the ship. All 22 sailors escaped with the help of the Portuguese Navy. There were no injuries.

The New York Times reported, "The fire broke out at a time when global supply chain disruptions, including supply and demand difficulties for semiconductors, disrupted production of new cars and delayed shipments." Car review YouTuber Matt Ferra said on Twitter, "I received a call from a dealer that the Porsche I ordered was on the ship," adding, "My car is burning in the middle of the sea."
Joao Mendes Kavesas, head of the port of Hortas, told Reuters, "The lithium-ion battery installed in the electric car is also on fire, so special equipment seems to be needed to extinguish the fire. He said, "The ship will be moved to other European countries or the Bahamas, not the Azores Islands, because it is too large to interfere with the navigation of other ships."
The Portuguese Navy is staying around the ship and watching the progress of the fire. The exact cause of the fire and marine pollution have not yet been reported.
The Felicity Ace is operated by Japanese shipping company Mitsui O.S.K. Line (MOL. MOL did not come up with a position.
