한국 여자 테니스 간판 장수정(179위·대구시청)이 국제테니스연맹(ITF) 액트 클레이코트 인터내셔널(총상금 6만 달러) 여자 단식 우승을 차지했다.

장수정은 3일 호주 캔버라에서 열린 대회 마지막 날 단식 결승에서 나이토 유키(224위·일본)를 2대1(6-7 6-1 6-4)로 물리쳤다.

올해 1월 호주오픈에서 생애 첫 메이저 대회 단식 본선에 진출했던 장수정은 이번 대회 우승으로 상승세를 타고 있다.

장수정이 총상금 6만 달러 규모 대회에서 우승한 것은 이번이 처음.

종전에는 1만5천 달러 대회에서 다섯 번, 2만5천 달러 대회에서 네 번 우승한 것이 단식 최고 성적이었다.

지난 2017년 11월 여자프로테니스(WTA) 125K 시리즈 대회(총상금 11만5천 달러)에서는 단식 준우승을 차지한 바 있다. WTA 투어에서는 2013년 코리아오픈 8강이 단식 최고 성적이다.

장수정은 이번 우승으로 WTA 투어 단식 랭킹을 144위 정도까지 올릴 것으로 예상된다.

올해 호주오픈에서 본선 1회전 벽을 넘지 못했던 장수정은 5월 프랑스오픈, 6월 윔블던 예선에 나갈 수 있는 랭킹을 안정적으로 확보했다.

Korean women's tennis star Jang Soo-jung (179th, Daegu City Hall) won the women's singles title of the International Tennis Federation Act Clay Court International (total prize money of $60,000).

Jang Soo-jung defeated Naito Yuki (224th, Japan) 2-1 (6-7 6-1 6-4) in the singles final on the last day of the tournament in Canberra, Australia.

Jang Soo-jung, who advanced to the singles finals of her first major tournament at the Australian Open in January this year, is on the rise with her victory in this tournament.

This is the first time Jang Soo-jung has won a $60,000 prize money tournament.

Previously, winning five $15,000 competitions and four $25,000 competitions was the best singles performance.

In November 2017, she finished second in singles at the Women's Professional Tennis (WTA) 125K Series (total prize money of $115,000). On the WTA Tour, the quarterfinals of the 2013 Korea Open are the best singles results.

With the victory, Jang is expected to raise the WTA Tour singles ranking to 144th.

Jang Soo-jung, who failed to cross the first round of the finals at this year's Australian Open, secured a stable ranking to compete in the French Open in May and Wimbledon qualifiers in June.
