"Recharge Me": Kim Young-kwang & Chae Soo-bin – "A Dreamy, Heart-Fluttering Story... Warm and Cheerful Comfort"

An Addictive New 'K-Rom-Com' Set to Premiere on Netflix on the 9th

Break News, Reporter Park Dong-je = The Netflix series *Recharge Me*, starring Kim Young-kwang and Chae Soo-bin, is generating high anticipation as a new, addictive 'K-rom-com' (Korean romantic comedy).

*Recharge Me* is a romantic comedy centered on the electrifying connection between a man whose artificial heart battery is running low and a woman who possesses electrical powers.

On the 1st, Netflix announced, "The production presentation for *Recharge Me* was successfully held today amidst great interest. Director Park Su-won, along with actors Kim Young-kwang and Chae Soo-bin, attended the event and shared exciting stories about the series."

Director Park Su-won, taking on the romantic comedy genre for the first time with *Recharge Me*, described the show as having a unique concept: a "rapid-charge romance" where a woman who normally shocks anyone she touches meets the first man she doesn't electrocute, and begins to develop a relationship with him.

Director Park added, "I wondered if it would make for a meaningful life if we—who are often 'drained' from living such busy lives—could be recharged, or if we could recharge someone else. In that sense, the warm sentiment of *Recharge Me* really resonated with me." She continued, "I strove to create a series that viewers can enjoy comfortably, without any complex plotlines, feeling as though they are being recharged themselves."

Kim Young-kwang, returning to the romantic comedy genre after a long hiatus, explained his reason for choosing the project, saying, "It gave me the same feeling I got when I first encountered a comic book. I found the comic-like settings and situations entertaining." Chae Soo-bin, who plays a unique character with the ability to generate electricity, heightened anticipation by sharing, "I was won over by the director, who said that while the premise might feel familiar, he was confident he could make it truly delightful. The story was lively and cute, yet also filled with warmth."

Kim Young-kwang plays Baek Ho-rang, a third-generation chaebol whose artificial heart battery runs out of power, promising a heart-fluttering charm. Describing Baek Ho-rang as a "planner who maps out everything" and a "third-generation chaebol driven by the goal of succession," Kim said, "I paid close attention to my wardrobe and visual style to capture the vibe of a chaebol heir. He is a character who hides his weaknesses to maintain a perfect image—which is actually quite heartbreaking—so I strove to portray him with a calm, composed demeanor."

Chae Soo-bin, who plays Na Bo-bae—a drama writer whose own romance life has "run out of power"—lit up the scene with her even lovelier appearance. Describing her character, she said, "Na Bo-bae is a romance writer who has never dated anyone, despite possessing the ability to generate electricity after being struck by lightning in her childhood. She embarks on a 'charging romance' to save Baek Ho-rang—a 'human rubber glove' unaffected by her powers."

She added, "She struggles because she cannot control her ability at will and worries about harming others. She is a character who is deeply lonely yet possesses an innocent and cheerful spirit." Director Park Su-won heaped praise on the actors, noting, "Their visual chemistry and romantic chemistry were beyond words—truly exceptional. Their comedic timing meshed so well that there were times I intentionally didn't call 'cut.' You can look forward to seeing some genuine, authentic chemistry."

Anticipation is also high for the performances of a diverse cast, including Cha Woo-min, Jung Jae-kwang, Shin Do-hyun, Heo Dong-won, and Kim Mi-kyung.

Describing the character Ji Eun-ho, Director Park said, "As a top star, Ji Eun-ho forms a love triangle involving Baek Ho-rang and Na Bo-bae. Although he is younger, he possesses the spirit and confidence to go toe-to-toe with Baek Ho-rang." She highlighted Cha Woo-min's appeal in the role. Regarding Jung Jae-kwang, she remarked, "He is an actor with outstanding expressive power, capable of sparking curiosity about his character through his unique atmosphere and aura. Please look forward to the villain character he creates," raising expectations for Choi Do-yun's performance.

She also spoke about Shin Do-hyun, who plays Han Seol-hee, noting, "The cool, chilling vibe that emerges when her sophisticated, clear image contrasts with other elements fits the character of Han Seol-hee perfectly." This heightened curiosity about the three characters set to shake up the relationship between Baek Ho-rang and Na Bo-bae.

Finally, Director Park highlighted a key point of the drama: "The relationship dynamic is fascinating—it begins with a sense of shared humanity, moves through a fierce phase of 'denial of attraction,' and evolves from there. Please look forward to the entertaining chemistry that unfolds and deepens as the episodes progress."

Kim Young-kwang commented, "It’s a heartwarming and exciting story that feels like a dream—something straight out of a comic book. I hope you enjoy it." Meanwhile, Chae Soo-bin expressed her affection for the project, saying, "It’s a show that offers warm, cheerful comfort, making time fly as you watch." Both actors asked viewers to look forward to the release.

*Charge Me Up* (working title), starring Kim Young-kwang and Chae Soo-bin, premieres on Netflix on the 9th.
