18일, 얍엑스(060230) 그래프에 바닥시그널이 포착됐다. 진 바닥 여부는 관찰이 필요하다. 하지만 이는 주식의 『손 바뀜』을 의미, 전문가들은 긍정적 시각으로 분석하고 있다.
최근 얍엑스 측은 “2차전지·IoT(Internet of Things) 등 4차 산업 분야의 ‘게임메이커’가 될 것”이라면서 “핀테크 플랫폼 신사업의 강력한 추진을 통해 신성장성 확보에 집중하고 있다.”라고 무지갯빛 청사진을 공개했다.
지난 8월 얍엑스는 최대주주가 변경됐다.
그 후 특히 기존 사업 경쟁력 강화는 시장의 눈길을 끌었다. 얍엑스는 의류용 RFID 태그 설비를 증설했다. 연 최대 생산량을 2억 개를 상회하는 수준으로 끌어올렸다.
의류용 RFID(Radio Frequency Identification) 태그는 올해 5천만 개, 내년 1억 개까지 판매 수요 증대로 이어지고 있다.
또 자회사 테크늄과 공조해 반도체 및 2차 전지 부문 공동특허 출원 행보에 박차를 가하고 있다.
얍엑스는 최대주주 변경 이후 ▲정밀화학소재 전문기업 테크늄 인수 ▲국내외 사물인터넷(IoT) 신사업 진출 ▲결제대행사 지에스페이먼트 인수 등 신사업도 공격적으로 추진하고 있다.
기존 제조업, 2차 전지·반도체 핵심소재 국산화 등으로 경쟁력 차별화를 강화했다는 게 업계 평가다. 얍엑스 IT 부품 소재 생산 기술력은 지난 수년간 300억 원 규모 매출과 흑자 기조를 유지해왔다. 이는 얍엑스의 주력 캐시카우(Cash Cow), 수익창출원이다.
얍엑스 최시명 대표는 "매출 확대와 수익성을 쥐기 위해선 무엇보다 수주 경쟁력을 확보해야 한다."라면서 "얍엑스가 오랜 기간 업계에서 인정받아온 양산, 제조 기술력을 보유한 만큼, 기술력 적용 범위의 확대가 무엇보다 중요하다."라고 힘줬다.
자회사 테크늄의 인수는 얍엑스의 생산 설비 및 제조 기술력의 활용성을 대폭 증진했다는 평가.
얍엑스는 최근 테크늄이 국산화에 성공한 고순도 포토레지스트용 핵심 소재 양산을 이뤄냈다. 이를 통해 과거 일본 반도체 업체들의 독점 체제에 대응할 수 있는 경쟁력을 확보했다.
여기에 2차전지의 수명 및 효율성을 높이는 핵심소재와 관련한 공동특허까지 보유하게 됐다.
최근 삼성그룹이 차세대 먹거리 사업으로 정조준하는 퀏텀닷(QD) 디스플레이에 적용되는 신규 소재는 '필러(Filler)'이다. 제조 기술경쟁력 강화를 토대로, 얍엑스는 삼성과 독점 공급 서플라이체인(SCM) 합류 성과를 이뤄냈다.
양산 규모는 100억 원대에 이를 것으로 전망하고 있다. 이는 지난해 얍엑스 연간 매출액의 33% 수준에 달한다.
최 대표는 "기존 주력사업 경쟁력 확대를 통해 안정적인 수익창출 사업 범위를 확대하고, IoT 부문에 걸친 국내외 신사업 프로젝트를 다각적으로 진행되고 있다.“라면서 ”이를 통해 4차산업 기반의 '게임메이커' 중추기업으로 거듭나는 것이 최종 목표"라고 밝혔다.
◈핀테크 플랫폼 신사업 추진 통한 신성장성 확보 집중...
얍엑스는 IoT 비콘 생산부터 선불직불 핀테크 사업도 확장했다. 솔루션 공급으로 지속적 수익성이 증대하고 있다.
현재 얍엑스 IoT 사업의 중심은 국내 소상공인 연합회 그리고 마카오 스마트시티 건설 프로젝트다. 얍엑스는 관련 사업 범위 내에서 IoT 인프라의 핵심인 비콘기기 제조, 공급을 도맡고 있다. IoT 산업은 인프라 구축이 중추신경이다. 따라서 네트워크망 구축을 위해선 구역별 비콘 설치가 전제 조건이라는 것.
얍엑스 측은 "IoT 비콘 기기 제조, 양산은 얍엑스 최고의 경쟁력으로 꼽힌다.”라면서 ”서비스 및 기술력 확보를 위해 얍(YAP) 그룹 등과 수개월 동안 다각적 네트워크 연계에 집중했고 MOU 등을 통한 전략적 업무협력 외에도 최근 인수한 지에스페이먼트를통한 선불 직불 핀테크 사업 진출 등이 멋진 대안이 될 것으로 전망하고 있다"라고 설명했다.
얍엑스는 1996년 7월 2일, 화공약품류 및 전자 재료, 그리고 전자 부품의 제조 판매를 주 사업목적으로 설립됐다. OLED 및 LCD에 적용되는 디스플레이용 정밀화학소재와 IoT에 적용되는 무선전자 태그 등을 생산, 판매하고 있다.
얍엑스는 2007년 1월 1일, 상호를 일동화학에서 이그잭스로 변경 후 2010년 10월 30일에 코스닥 상장법인인 주식회사 SC팅크그린과 합병했다. 한편 2021년 8월 19일, 사명을 이그잭스에서 얍엑스로 상호를 변경 사업 다각화를 꾀하고 있다.

Yapx was established on July 2, 1996 for the main business purpose of manufacturing and selling chemicals, electronic materials, and electronic components. It produces and sells precision chemical materials for displays applied to OLED and LCDs and wireless electronic tags applied to IoT.
YABX changed its name from Ildong Chemical to IgJax on January 1, 2007, and merged with SC Tinkgreen, a KOSDAQ-listed corporation, on October 30, 2010. Meanwhile, on August 19, 2021, the company is trying to diversify its business by changing its name from IgJax to YappX.
