DL이앤씨가 지난달 말 호주 뉴라이저사(社)와 탄소 포집·활용·저장(CCUS) 시설 건설을 위한 설계 작업을 수행하는 우선 계약 합의서를 체결했다고 3일 밝혔다. 호주 뉴라이저사는 친환경 비료 제조 기업.

호주 남부 애들레이드에서 북쪽으로 550㎞쯤 떨어진 광산 지역에서 5MW 용량의 소형 발전소에서 나오는 연간 5만t 규모의 이산화탄소를 포집·활용하는 공장을 짓는 사업이다.

DL이앤씨는 “국내 건설 업계 최초로 글로벌 탄소 시장에 진출한 것”이라며 “작년 5월 뉴라이저가 발주한 암모니아·요소 공장 건설 사업의 기본 설계 사업을 수주해 기술력을 인정받은 덕분”이라고 설명했다.

마창민 DL이앤씨 대표이사는 “호주를 시작으로 앞으로 중동, 북미, 유럽 등에서 탄소 포집·활용·저장 비즈니스를 확대할 계획”이라고 말했다.

DL E&C announced on the 3rd that it signed a priority contract agreement with New Riser Australia late last month to carry out design work for the construction of carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS) facilities. New Riser Australia is an eco-friendly fertilizer manufacturer.

It is a project to build a factory that collects and utilizes 50,000 tons of carbon dioxide annually from a small power plant with a capacity of 5MW in a mining area about 550km north of Adelaide in southern Australia.

DL E&C said, "We entered the global carbon market for the first time in the domestic construction industry," adding, "Thanks to winning the basic design project for the ammonia and urea plant construction project ordered by New Riser in May last year, our technology was recognized."

Starting with Australia, we plan to expand carbon collection, utilization, and storage businesses in the Middle East, North America, and Europe in the future, said Ma Chang-min, CEO of DL E&C.
