브레이크뉴스 박동제 기자= 그룹 르세라핌(LE SSERAFIM / 김채원, 사쿠라, 허윤진, 카즈하, 홍은채)이 정규 2집 타이틀곡 ‘붐팔라(BOOMPAL)’를 통해 지금까지 본 적 없는 새로운 매력과 두려움을 이겨낸 긍정적인 메시지를 전달한다. 한층 업그레이드 된 르세라핌의 도전이 벌써부터 흥행을 예고한다. 

르세라핌은 지난 19일 서울 성동구 한 카페에서 브레이크뉴스와 만나 정규 2집 ‘‘PUREFLOW’ pt.1(퓨어플로우 파트1)’ 발매 기념 인터뷰를 진행했다. 다만 리더 김채원은 건강상 이유로 불참했다.

‘UNFORGIVEN’(언포기븐) 이후 3년 만에 발매하는 정규 앨범 ‘‘PUREFLOW’ pt.1은 르세라핌 다섯 멤버가 두려움을 알게 되면서 생긴 변화와 성장을 담았다. “두려움이 없다”를 의미하는 데뷔곡 ‘FEARLESS’(피어리스)로 가요계에 첫 발을 내디딘 르세라핌은 이제 “두려움을 알기에 더 강해질 수 있었다”라는 새로운 메시지를 전한다.

라틴 하우스(Latin House) 장르를 기반으로 한 정규 2집 타이틀곡 ‘붐팔라’는 전 세계적 히트곡  ‘마카레나’(Macarena)를 샘플링한 곡으로, ‘두려움은 관점과 태도에 따라 별 게 아닌 허상일 수 있다‘는 메시지를 담았다. 특히 ‘Boompala Boompala Boompala yeah’ 구간은 주문을 외우는 듯한 느낌을 주고, 멜로디는 강한 중독성을 남기며 새로운 히트곡 탄생을 예고한다.

이날 허윤진은 3년 만에 정규 앨범을 발표하는 소감을 묻자 “이번 앨범은 저희에게 특별한 의미가 있다. 멤버들의 참여도가 높은 앨범이라 더욱 애정이 간다. 멤버 전원이 크레디트에 이름을 올렸고, 그만큼 진심이었다”며 “항상 컴백 전에는 설레기도 하고, 궁금하기도 하고, 두렵기도 하다. 복합적인 감정이 드는데, 이번 앨범 만큼은 즐겁게 활동하고, 좋은 에너지를 전달할 수 있으면 좋겠다”고 밝혔다.

홍은채는 “정규 앨범은 모든 가수들에게 특별하지 않나. 정규 1집때는 정규 앨범의 소중함을 잘 몰랐는데, 활동하면서 소중함을 느끼게 되더라. 솔직한 저희들의 이야기를 들려드릴 수 있도록 많은 애정을 담고 정성스럽게 준비했으니, 많은 분들이 좋아해줬으면 한다”고 말했다. 

카즈하는 “더욱 끈끈해진 멤버들의 관계성을 담은 곡들도 많아서 개인적으로 굉장히 애정이 간다. 긍정적인 메시지의 곡들로 위로를 드리고 싶다. 힘든 시간을 겪고 있거나, 도전을 하고 있는 사람들에게 용기가 되는 앨범이 됐으면 하는 바람이다”고 전했다.

사쿠라는 “데뷔 때 ‘피어리스’로 ‘두려움이 없어서 강하다’고 외쳤는데, 정규 2집 ‘‘PUREFLOW’ pt.1’으로는 ‘두려움을 알기에 강하다’라는 메시지를 전하고자 한다. 최근에 데뷔 4주년을 맞이하기도 했고, 계속 성장하면서 두려움을 대하는 태도도 변화하는 우리들의 모습을 보여줄 수 있는 소중한 앨범”이라고 밝혔다.

정규 2집 ‘‘PUREFLOW’ pt.1’을 위해 르세라핌 멤버들이 노력한 부분은 무엇일까. 허윤진은 “이번 앨범은 멤버들이 특히 적극적으로 참여했다. 각자 작사와 작곡에도 도전을 많이 했고, 처음해보는 것들도 있었다. 도전이 저에게는 큰 경험이 됐고, 많은 영양분이 됐던 것 같다”고 말했다.

이어 홍은채는 “그동안 다양한 활동들을 하면서 저희들 음악의 폭도 더 넓어졌다고 생각한다. 정규 2집은 다양한 장르와 스타일의 곡들로 구성됐는데, 녹음하면서 부스에 들어갈때마다 다른 사람을 끄내는 느낌으로 색다른 도전에 나섰다. 보여준 적 없는 목소리나 변화, 성장들을 보여드리기 위해 노력했다”고 답했다.

정규 2집 타이틀곡 ‘붐팔라’의 모티브를 반야심경에서 얻었다고 밝힌 허윤진은 “반야심경 영향을 많이 받았다. 반야심경의 핵심은 공과 무 인데, 공은 모든 존재는 고정된 실체 없이 존재하고, 무는 붙잡을 게 없다는 것이더라”며 “저희가 생각하는 두려움과 비슷했다. 두려움은 우리가 만들어낸 상상일 수 있고, 바라보는 시각에 따라 다르게 다가올 수 있다는 걸 깨달았던 것 같다”고 전했다.  

사쿠라는 “붐팔라라는 단어 자체가 사전에 없는, 작업하면서 만든 단어다. ‘붐팔라’는 생각을 긍정적으로 바꾸고, 쓸데없는 생각은 멈추고 즐기자라는 메시지가 담긴 곡이다. 많은 분들이 잘 알고 있는 ‘마카레나’를 샘플링했는데, ‘붐팔라’가 전 세계 사람들과 함께 즐길 수 있는 곡이 됐으면 한다”고 말했다.

이날 인터뷰 자리에서는 ‘붐팔라’ 뮤직비디오가 최초로 공개됐다. ‘붐팔라’ 뮤직비디오에는 다채로운 콘셉트를 소화한 멤버들의 모습이 등장해 관심을 모았다. 이에 뮤직비디오 속 가장 기억에 남는 콘셉트를 묻자 허윤진은 “저희가 찜질방에서 김채원을 찾아가는 장면이 있는데, 멤버들끼리 밀고 당기는 모습 등이 담겨져 있어 즐거웠다”고 밝혔다.

카즈하는 “퍼레이드 카 장면이 기억에 남는다. 자세히보면 오페라를 하거나, 춤을 추는 등 다양한 사람들이 타고 있는데, 저희의 ‘붐팔라’라는 주문에 걸려서 다같이 즐기고 있는 듯한 모습이어서 인상적이었다”고, 홍은채는 “마지막 흰색 배경 아무것도 없는 무의 공간에서 진짜 다양한 곳에서 모인 사람들이 같이 웃으면서 ‘마카레나’를 즐기는데, 그 장면이 ‘붐팔라’를 통해 저희가 가장 전하고 싶은 메시지라는 생각이 든다. 많이 봐주고 찾아주면 좋겠다”고 전했다.

사쿠라는 “‘붐팔라’ 뮤직비디오에는 CG가 정말 많이 사용됐는데, 저희도 찍으면서 어떻게 나올지 궁금했다. 완성된 뮤직비디오를 보니 저희는 진지한데, 보는 분들에게는 웃음을 드릴 수 있을 것 같더라. ‘붐팔라’ 뮤직비디오를 통해서도 긍정적인 에너지를 전해드릴 것 같아 기대된다”고 말했다.    

정규 2집으로 컴백한 르세라핌은 오는 7월 11~12일 인천 콘서트를 시작으로 두 번째 월드투어 ‘2026 LE SSERAFIM TOUR ‘PUREFLOW’’를 전개한다. 이번에는 어떤 무대로 전 세계 피어나피어나(FEARNOT.팬덤명)를 사로잡을지 궁금증이 높아지고 있다.

카즈하와 허윤진은 두 번째 월드투어에 대해 “이번에 정규 2집으로 컴백했다보니 아무래도 새로운 무대가 많이 추가될 것 같다”고, 홍은채는 “지난해 투어를 하면서 다음 투어를 한다면 하고 싶은 것도 생기고, 시도해보고 싶은 연출 같은 것도 많은 생겼다. 이번에는 퍼포먼스 뿐만 아니라, 관객분들이 시각적으로 보는 재미도 더 커졌으면 좋겠더라. 지금 열심히 준비하고, 회의하고 있다. 많은 분들이 기대해줬면 좋겠다”고, 사쿠라는 “저희들이 피어나에게 보답할 수 투어가 됐으면 한다”고 밝혔다.

한편, ‘걸그룹 퍼포먼스 최강자’ 르세라핌은 22일 오후 1시 정규 2집 ‘‘PUREFLOW’ pt.1’을 발매하며 컴백한다.
